CHAPTER 2: THE CHEMICAL BASIS OF LIFE
2.0 Introduction
As we have seen in the last chapter, biology is the study
of the natural world - the living world around us. Formerly the
biologist merely classified plants and animals according to their
size, shape ( i.e. anatomy), their physiology and their existence
in nature. Scientists later discovered the chemical and physical
bases of living things. From their own study they realized that
there is a chemical similarity between a plant cell and an animal
cell. This leads us to the study of the chemical basis of life.
