4.2 Overall Equation of Photosynthesis
Definition : Photosynthesis is the intracellular
anabolic process, characteristic of the green cells of plants in which
carbohydrates are synthesized from carbon dioxide and water in the presence
of light and chlorophyll. In this process, light energy is converted into
chemical energy and stored in carbohydrate molecules, while oxygen is
liberated.
The overall process of photosynthesis is represented by the following general chemical equation.
