angle of elevation of the ladder is 640. Find the height
of the building and length of the ladder.
Solution
Let 'h' be the height and 'l ' be the length.
The adjoining fig. illustrates the conditions of the problem.
\ Height of the building = 51.25 '
\ length of the ladder = 57.02'.
Example 2
An observer O, 200 m above sea level, observes the angle of depression
of a ship 's' at sea to be 460 . Find the horizontal
distance between the ship and the observer.
