DELOS - Island in the Aegean Sea, sacred to Apollo. Aeneas visits Delos in Book III. DIANA - Twin sister of Apollo; goddess of hunting, moon, and patron of maidens. See Camilla. DIDO - Queen of Carthage, who fell passionately in love with Aeneas and committed suicide when he left. DIOMEDES - One of the Greek heroes at Troy. Later a king in Italy whom Turnus asks for help. DIS - King of the underworld. DRANCES - Latin senator who tries to make peace between Trojans and Latins and who hates Turnus. DREPANUM - Modern Trapani. Place in Sicily where Trojans land and have funeral games to honor Anchises. ELISSA - Another name for Dido. ELYSIAN FIELDS - The place in the underworld where good souls stay. ENTELLUS - Old Sicilian boxer who defeats Dares.
