A small bar magnet suspended about vertical axis rests in equilibrium along direction of Horizontal component of Earth's magnetic field (denoted by BH). When deflected among from BH direction in horizontal plane and then released, it performs vibrational motion about BH direction as the fixed reference line. This vibrational motion is called angular S.H.M.
