Key Literary Elements

Setting

The action of the play occurs partly in England and partly in
France. The play opens with a scene in the Westminster Abbey
in England, where the funeral of King Henry V occurs. Other
scenes that occur in England do so in different locations in the
city of London. These include the tower of London, Temple
Garden, Parliament-house and the royal palace.

Most of the scenes that take place in France are battle-scenes.
Hence, they take place in battlegrounds around the various
French cities and fortresses. These cities include Orleans,
Rouen, Bordeaux, Gascony, Anjou and Angiers. The
countess’s palace Talbot visits is located at Auvergne and the
palace where Henry VI resides in France is located in Paris.
