H. G. Wells
Wells, H. G. (Herbert George) (1866-1946) - English author known
for his science fiction, his satirical novels, and his popular
accounts of history and science. He is regarded as the first great
writer of science fiction. The Time Machine (1895) - Wells’ first
novel is a science fiction story about the inventor of a time
machine who travels to the year 802,701 and vists the stages in the
evolutionary degeneration of humankind. This work established
Wells’ reputation as a science fiction writer.
