Lewis (pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) (1832-1898)
English novelist, poet, photographer, and mathematician, best
known for his fantastical childrens’ classics. He was a
mathematical lecturer at Oxford. Alice in Wonderland (1865) .
Alice falls down a well and discovers a fantasy land. This classic
novel is at once a social satire and a whimsical fairy tale, and can
be appreciated by both adults and children. Sir John Tenniel drew
the familiar illustrations for this work.
