CHAPTER 19

- In this chapter, Linton Heathcliff, the third member of the
younger triangle, is introduced. His mother Isabella is dead,
and Edgar has brought him home to Thrushcross Grange. The
boy has an uncanny resemblance to Edgar, but his face has a
sickly peevishness that his uncle's never had.

Linton perks up only when Cathy feeds him tea out of a saucer,
as though he were a baby. Edgar imagines that Cathy's
company will strengthen the boy, but not a day passes before
Joseph comes to take him to Heathcliff, his father. Little good
can come of thrusting such a weakling into the harsh world of
Wuthering Heights, and you begin to feel the inexorable power
of its master.
