Riders. October: Frodo arrives in Rivendell.

January: Gandalf dies in battle with the Balrog.

February: Merry and Pippin are captured by orcs. Aragorn,
Legolas, and Gimli follow in an attempt to rescue them. Frodo
and Sam begin their long trek to Mordor.

March 5: Gandalf breaks Saruman's staff.

March 13: Frodo is captured by orcs just inside Mordor.

March 25: The Ring is destroyed.

May 1: Aragorn is crowned king of Gondor.

November: Hobbits return to the Shire.

3021 September: Frodo passes over the sea to the Blessed
Realm.
