Aaron - Dolly Winthrop's son and the childhood playmate of Eppie. He eventually marries her.

Mr. Macey - a tailor and parish clerk, endowed with a highly witty tongue.

Mr. Snell - the landlord of Rainbow Inn. He is a man of "neutral disposition" who likes to steer away from controversies.

Ben Winthrop - a wheelwright, who is a good-natured man of happy disposition.

Bob Lundy - the butcher.

Mr. Tookey - the assistant to Mr. Macey. He is frequently the target of jokes.

Mr. Dowlas - a farrier who takes great pride in his thinking ability.

Jem Rodney - a poacher who had once irritated Silas by lingering too long by his fire.


Solomon Macey - the brother of Mr. Macey and a fiddler by profession.

Justice Malam - judge in Raveloe.

Mr. Osgood - Mr. Lammeter's brother-in-law.

Mrs. Osgood - Mr. Osgood's wife who shares an excellent rapport with Nancy Lammeter.

Dr Kimble - an apothecary who is also Godfrey's uncle and godfather.

Mrs. Kimble - a fat woman who is the wife of Dr. Kimble and squire Cass's sister.

Mr. Crackenthrop - rector of the church at Raveloe.

Mrs. Crackenthrop - "a small blinking woman who fidgeted incessantly."
