The major theme centers on the clash between establishment and progress, old and new, young and old, modernity and antiquity, and revolution and convention.

Minor Themes

The minor Themes are the strength of determined women and the inevitability of love and marriage.

For the most part, the mood of Man and Superman is wry and lighthearted. Although Shaw addresses some serious intellectual and philosophical issues in the play, he also succeeds in making his audience laugh while they are thinking.
