Table of Contents | Printable Version Everyone chases everyone until Antipholus of Syracuse and his Dromio take refuge in the priory, and one by one all the characters converge outside the house of the Abbess. It is then that the Duke comes along with Egeon, who is now his prisoner, soon to be executed. On seeing the Duke, Adriana begs his help. She is seeking justice against the Abbess, who is protecting her husband. Adriana believes her husband has gone mad. At the same time, Antipholus of Ephesus has come to seek revenge on his wife. When Egeon sees him, he believes him to be Antipholus of Syracuse. Egeon is hurt by his refusal to recognize him as his father. Then the Abbess brings forth the pair that has been hiding, and all present are amazed at the likeness. The Duke sees immediately that Egeon's story has been realized as the truth.
