Table of Contents | Printable Version AN HONOR INDEED! Back in Philadelphia, Franklin enjoys being a colonel for a short while. At the end of his first review of his regiment, the men accompany him home and shoot several volleys of salutation. Their revelry breaks some of his scientific equipment. Once, when Franklin is leaving town, his officers escort him to the ferry with swords drawn in his honor; however, they are naked as they ride their horses. Franklin is embarrassed by their antics. The Proprietor takes great offense over the issue and tries to remove Franklin from his position of Post Master. The Governor, however, is still pleased with Franklin. He wants him to undertake a commission placing in him great military capabilities. Franklin refuses, for he knows he is not good at such affairs. Notes Franklin is liked immensely by his followers.
